“A źródło wciąż bije…” A historical tale by Jacek Kaczmarski | CONCERT

12 October 2021 featured a specially-prepared musical performance entitled “A źródło wciąż bije…” consisting of the historically and artistically-inspired songs of Jacek Kaczmarski in new and original arrangements.

For Kaczmarski, history was not just a collection of dry facts but a living organism that shaped the imagination of generations. The poet treated the past as a mirror in which Poles could see their weaknesses as well as their greatness, and thus better understand themselves.

Attendance at the concert at the “Iskra” cinema hall in Augustów was impressive, and the 150-seat auditorium was filled to the brim. The audience listened to well-known songs by Kaczmarski in new arrangements prepared by Jacek Bończyk, Wojciech Brzeziński and Julia Konarska, including “Obława” [“Roundup”], “Ballada wrześniowa” [“September Ballad”], “Wigilia na Syberii” [“Christmas Eve in Siberia”], “Źródło” [“The Spring”] and “Alegoria malarstwa” [“An Allegory of Painting”].

Performers:

Jacek Bończyk (vocals and classical guitar)

Wojciech Brzeziński (vocals)

Julia Konarska (vocals)

Konrad Wantrych (piano)

Wojciech Gumiński (bass)
