Reading Room - Instytut Pileckiego
The reading room at the Augustów branch was created for all those who would like to better understand the past of north-eastern Poland – researchers, history enthusiasts, and local residents. Our collections are closely connected with the Pilecki Institute’s mission and the heritage of the Augustów and Suwałki regions. A special place is devoted to works documenting the Augustów Roundup, as well as publications on local history and the fates of residents of the region during German and Soviet totalitarian rule.
We offer access to a carefully selected collection of printed publications and e-resources, as well as to prestigious academic databases, such as JSTOR, EBSCO, ProQuest, Ancestry and Newspapers.com. Users can also avail themselves of a number of unique collections, including testimonies from the Shoah Foundation and the digital archival materials gathered on the archiwum.instytutpileckiego.pl website.
We have taken care to ensure that the reading room is comfortable and therefore conducive to academic work, journalistic research and regional education. All of the materials are cataloged in an online system available at biblioteka.instytutpileckiego.pl
Our collections can be accessed by the general public on site and free of charge. The reading room is adapted to the needs of people with limited mobility.
Feel free to visit our facility and explore its collections!
